Originally from Montreal, Vaughn Waits moved to New York as soon as he was old enough to get away from the war between the pack and Sky House. He met Mia Quinn there, married her, and they had a child. They had a wonderful relationship until his father made a deathbed request that Vaughn couldn't refuse.
Vaughn returned alone to Montreal to find out the real reasons behind the war with Sky House. Although his father had left the pack years before, Vaughn knew his best chance at resolving things was in rejoining them. 18 months later he realized that he needed someone on the inside at Sky House, and called Mia, who agreed without hesitation. They agreed to talk about reconciling once they had restored peace.
When Mia lost her memory and left Sky House, Vaughn refused to let her return, believing she would be killed as his sister Vivian had been. They were remarried, but soon after their second child was born, Mia was killed during a battle in the umbra, leaving Vaughn to raise their children alone.

Sloan was captured at the age of 6 when Gwen’s father killed his parents. He does not remember his family, probably from the trauma of seeing them killed in front of him. He was raised by Bowden to protect and serve Gwen, and knows nothing of the real world beyond what he's seen in movies or on the TV. He has no idea what it really means to be a werewolf as he has been taught that they are evil, that he is evil.
Everyone in Sky House treated Sloan as a servant. The men in the chantry tend to treat him as if he does not exist. Gwen initiated a sexual relationship with him shortly after her father died. While she had forbidden him to sleep with anyone else, he did manage to do so from time to time, first with Shea, then with Mia.
Sloan began helping Mia learn the truth about some of the events that have caused animosity between Sky House and Red Moon Pack. Eventually his involvement was discovered, and Gwen nearly killed him. She believes he died from his injuries, but he is living with Susie and staying out of sight. |

At first she just wanted to get information from him, but she now has a fondness for him that she didn't expect. |
