“The truth is you're the weak. And I'm the tyranny of evil men. But I'm tryin', Ringo. I'm tryin' real hard to be the shepherd.”

Jules - Pulp Fiction

Duncan was a wanderer, a scholar. He left his home to travel the world, searching for more than the city walls could bring him. He ended up in England where he met Bruce, a very religious warrior, and they became fast friends. They had many talks about philosophy and religion, and Bruce’s wife was involved with these talks as well.

When Duncan went off to travel Europe, he kept in touch with Bruce and his family. Bruce and his wife visited Duncan often. When Bruce’s wife died of an illness, Duncan mourned with him. Duncan was on his way to visit England when Bruce fell to torpor in 1070. He helped Bruce’s grandson take care of the body and did what he could to make sure his friend would survive.

Many years later Duncan was approached by a vampire and became Kindred. He remained in Europe for a many years before eventually falling to torpor during a battle in Berlin. His ghoul took his body and hid him in the catacombs beneath the city and took care of him until he was killed.

Duncan woke in 1947 when German soldiers found him. One of them recognized what he was and as a lark they fed him. He woke and killed them all. He traveled to America with a group of Kindred and spent the next thirty years moving around the country.

In 1997 he moved to Flint where he helped Sebastian Ritter delve into the Brujah businesses. When Sebastian’s sire decided to move to Nashville in the fall of 1999, Duncan was invited to join them. He accepted.

In Nashville, Duncan did what he always did, find the supply routes for unusual object and take them over. Unfortunately, in Nashville it was to be his undoing. Supplying the Toreador Primogen Jesus Ramone with young girls brought Duncan's unnatural hold over Sebastian to the Prince's attention. In February of 2000, Sebastian's ghoul Raleigh enlisted the help of a Bastet named Kiran Michaels, who proceeded to take Duncan's head.
